North Dakota beats Colorado College 5-3 in ice hockey

GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? Danny Kristo had two goals and two assists to lead North Dakota to a 5-3 win over Colorado College on Saturday and a split of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekend series.

Kristo extended his goal-scoring streak to seven games. He also scored in Friday's 4-3 Colorado College win.

UND's Corban Knight extended his point-scoring streak to 17 straight games. But it was a goal by fourth-liner Dan Senkbeil that was the winner.

"Last night Colorado College's fourth line got the game-winner for them," UND coach Dave Hakstol said Saturday. "It was the same for us tonight."

Mitch MacMillan had a goal and an assist for North Dakota (12-6-3, 8-3-3).

Colorado College outshot UND 12-4 in the first period, but North Dakota responded by outshooting the Tigers 15-1 in the second.

"The players went in and regrouped and came out with great focus," Hakstol said. "As a staff, we didn't go in after the first period."

Joe Gleason and MacMillan scored the only goals of the second period, both for UND.

Colorado College (9-13-2, 6-9-1) tied the game 3-3 on Rylan Schwartz's power-play goal at 5:13 of the third. But Senkbeil answered with his first college goal two minutes later and Kristo added an empty-netter.

Zane Gothberg had 21 saves for UND and Josh Thorimbert made 26 stops for the Tigers.
