If you want targeted traffic bad enough you'll find the time and develop the talent if need be. If not you simply don't want to make money online badly enough and this article won't be for you.

The internet offers many ways of generating targeted traffic but they generally fall under two categories, paid and free.? Paid advertising methods such as Google Adwords can quickly maxout your American Express card, especially if you are an inexperienced Adwords user. Yes, I know there is no limit on Amex, that was suppose to be funny and many MLM or Affiliate website owners don?t have the resources (money) to use options like PPC (pay-per-click), or ezine ads that quickly generate targeted traffic. The folks who are short on funds to promote but have the desire to succeed because all you need is the proper mindset and a lot of ambition. You also must have the drive and perseverance to do the research and work in order to generate free targeted traffic.

Not a huge, "bragging rights," amount of traffic yet?but ...

How sweet will it?be to have?tons of highly targeted?traffic without spending a single cent? It is possible, I do it myself. Many sites have articles that offer tips and guidelines on how to generate traffic using free methods but I am going to actually show you MY results. And I'll continue to repost the results from time-to-time so that you can actually see the increase in traffic to this blog.

You really?can create targeted traffic without spending a single cent (ok I invested $10 bucks for a domain name)?and with some time and effort boat loads of targeted traffic. It takes time and persistence to create free, targeted traffic. Granted ...

You do?get FASTER results by paying for your traffic, but with some of these free methods you can literally do the work ONCE and have targeted traffic for years.?

Personally I like doing something once and benefiting for a long time don't you? So give these methods a try and be patient - some take time to actually ramp up the traffic.

1) Content is king.

Write good content for your site. Search engines track down the keywords and keyword phrases your site uses and how they are used within your sites content. It is not a requirement that content be done by a professional copywriter. You can do your own but you have to write quality content for your site that is entertaining as well as informational. 2) Submit your sites to the search engines.

Make sure your sites get indexed (listed) by the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN). As long as your site presents quality content and your SEO (search engine optimization) is?decent you should get good traffic within a short period of time. However ...

IF you have a chosen niche or keywords that have high amounts of competition your search results will take much more effort, tactics (those to follow)?and time in order to see results.

3) Submit your sites to search directories.

Directories are a tad different than search engines and some of them are really picky about the sites they list but it's to your benefit if you submit your site and garner admission. Gaining the favor of? top ranking search directories helps your Google page rank which inturn helps your placement within search results. The higher your placement within the search results the more traffic your site will receive?(the #1 spot, on page 1 of Google search for "home business opportunity" receives a boatload more traffic?than spot #11 foound on page 2 of Google for the same search term).

4) Write a crap load of articles.

Author articles designed to pique the attention of people that have interest in your product, service or opportunity. Try writing articles that will provide tips and guides. Writing articles that provide good information content to others can provide extremely targeted traffic to your site for years. And long-term free targeted traffic is like - way cool.

Submit your articles to article directories like EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com that not only offer the benefits of targeted traffic but also offer one-way backlinks which will help increase your page rank. When people read your articles, offering free, valuable information content, they may want more of the same and will visit your site. Be sure to include your bio box with some "teaser copy" and a link to your site or the site page you want to promote.

5) Submit those articles to email newsletter publishers (ezines).

Find ezine publishers (in your niche) and let them have the opportunity to publish your articles. Ezine publishers (basically online magazines and/or large, respected, authority type?blogs)?are always looking for good, fresh content. If your article gets picked up by a major blog you could get a huge spike in traffic within days.

6) Trade links with other sites.

You don?t have to spend a cent. All you have to do is reach an agreement with another webmaster. By exchanging links both sites will benefit from the others efforts. Potential customers, who visit your link partnered sites, could potentially click on the link to your site giving you traffic as well. This works well when both sites market the same niche with a different products or services. These links also help page rank as long as they are relevant.

7) Author a blog.

Start a blog on blogger.com and a blog on wordpress.com, link them to your site and submit them to the hundreds of free blog directories like Ping-O-Matic. This will get you plenty of quality traffic as long as you keep your blogs updated. Blogs are search engine spider bait because all search engine love new, fresh, engaging content and a blogger who writes at least 2 quality content posts per week is going to attrack the search engines and keep their attention.

8) Submit videos to youtube.com

Quality videos that explain a problem and offer a solution or show how to do something can create tons of traffic. If they go viral they can absolutely hammer your site with traffic.You don?t really need any talent. Well ok, it does help if you're funny and a good speaker but just do one and you'll get better as you go. People don't care about how "slick" you are. In fact, "slick" doesn't get it. Show them your heart and passion and you'll be a winner.

9) Use Social Networking.

By creating a presence on the top social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter) you can direct a stream of free traffic to your site simply by writing short, concise snippets of text and adding the link to your most recent and engaging blog post or web page.

10) Take advantage of online forums, groups and communities.

The great thing about forums and online communities is that you can target a certain group that fits your perfect prospect's demographics. You can "attract" targeted prospects by giving good, solid answers to their questions. Another advantage is most forums allow you to have a signature that includes a link to the site, site page or blog you want to promote and?by establishing a positive presence in?online communities and forums you can build your reputation as an expert in your field which will translate to targeted traffic.

11) Write an ebook.

This is an extremely exceptional way to kill two birds with one shot or stone as it were. By writing an ebook and then publishing it on Amazon you can literally earn tons of free money. Amazon will do the marketing and selling and will pay you 70% in royalty fees for an ebook in Kindle format. This means you get paid when people buy the book and by placing a link to your site page or blog you want to promote in selected area of your ebook those who read it and appreciate your quality content will click those links, become your LEADS and potential customers for a long time.

Then if the sales subside or it simply doesn't sell well you can either decide to re-write it, tweek the cover and title re-submit it for sale and see if revenue increases. IF not you can always give it away by?submiting it to all the free ebook directories you can find online.

12) Publish a press release.

Write a press release about your site and submit it to press release sites such as prweb.com. If you are not familiar with press releases, take some time to do a little research: a press release is not written like an article.
