When it comes to adoption should there not be private adoption ...

Question by Where were you: When it comes to adoption should there not be private adoption agencies but only state agencies?
Should the US make all adoptions go through a foster to adopt program?

How do we fix the current system?

Do we limit advertising for private adoption agencies?

People keep saying they want to adopt a baby in need, so if we only had an adoption agency through the the government then the child(ren) in the system we would know they came from a family that truly didn?t want the baby or was abusive. Isn?t that the whole point of adoption to save a child in need and not to retain a baby that?s mother would have otherwise kept it?

I plan on becoming a foster parent within the next year to help children that are in need of a loving home.
lizardmama2 you have an excellent point. I think we need to limit budgetting for advertising adoption, keep adoption out of the hospitals, and let women decide for themselves what is best for their child. I do believe that abused and neglected children should be adopted out or at least to a fit family member.

I do not believe so. The question is, Is bigger government more efficient and more effective than the private sector? Should government be responsible for matters involving private individuals, in this case, to include their families? Governments breed bureaucracy and create ineffective systems that infringe on rights of individuals. I understand your concern, but there are more appropriate ways to address this issue than through government expansion. I believe in private business. I believe in private citizens. And I believe in idealistic people like yourself to see a better way of doing things and make it happen. You have in your own entrepreneurial mind the capacity to do more for the system than the government can by making a ?larger system.? Can you save every one? No. But you can make more of a difference than a cold government bureaucrat could do at the cost of taxpayers being forced to fund your values. The current system has failed its foster children. Why in the world would we want to reward that failure with greater responsibility?
